2024 Membership Dues Tax Information

On behalf of the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association (RIVMA), we would like to thank you for your support of our work through your 2024 membership. 

We are grateful for the many ways in which our members help promote the health and wellness of animals statewide. You not only volunteer for the many programs and services we offer, but you take part in our continuing education programs and lend your voice and opinions to the myriad issues that we address locally and nationally. When RIVMA speaks at the State House on issues of concern, it is critical to show that the RIVMA has a high percentage of licensed veterinarians who are members. We are fortunate that is true, as it lends credibility to our policy positions. 

Dues to the RIVMA are not deductible as a charitable contribution but may be deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense. A portion of dues, however, are not deductible as an ordinary and necessary business expense to the extent that the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association engages in lobbying. 

2024 RIVMA dues therefore are 50% non-deductible.
